Two hands holding each other on a blue background

Julie Evert is a gift to MMSD. She has taken on the work of the Student Services Professional Learning Team and is doing a great job! I always learn so much when I talk to her! Thanks for being awesome Julie!

Two hands holding each other on a blue background

The most sincere thank you to our AMAZING and hard-working nurses Julie and Erin in Lincoln Elementary. They are truly dedicated to keeping our students safe. We know it hasn't been easy for them. We appreciate you!

A heart on a purple background

Abbi Dunning and Nancy Schlesinger at Sandburg - and ALL of our nurses - thank you, thank you, thank you! While there isn't a soul in the school system that has an easy job during a pandemic, there are many things that make it extra hard to be a school nurse right now. You all are wonderful and know that we appreciate you!!

Huge SHOUT OUT to Ann Desens, Emerson Elementary's Advanced Learning teacher! Thank you for your willingness to step in and help with FastBridge testing and Targeted Skills Practice lessons for AL and more. Your expertise is so valuable especially when classroom teachers are feeling the stress to focus on students whose reading skills are less independent.

National Merit Scholars logo

This year, the Madison Metropolitan School District continued the tradition of having a remarkable number of National Merit Scholar Semifinalists, with 26 outstanding students who have achieved semifinalist status in the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

In MMSD, we are deeply committed to ensuring equitable, inclusive, and welcoming learning communities for all of our children. AB562, the proposed parental opt-out bill, is in direct opposition to our district’s values and our students’ voices.

Textbooks in Stacks

Over the next few days, each MMSD Kindergarten student will receive a small library of their very own books to bring home. Book bundles are available for kindergartners participating in our virtual elementary program, too; teachers will share pick-up details.

Healthy Lunch Options at Madison West

As you may already know, breakfast and lunch are free for ALL MMSD students this school year under the federal Seamless Summer Option (SSO). Here are additional food services information families should know for the beginning of the school year.
