Principal's Corner
Dear Black Hawk Middle School Community,
With great excitement and a profound sense of responsibility, I introduce myself as the new principal of Black Hawk Middle School. I am eager to guide a school in a district committed to preparing students for college, career, and community success.
Originally from Indiana, I began my career in education in August 2014 as an 8th-grade science teacher in the very school system I grew up attending in South Bend, IN. Since then, I've had the privilege of serving students and families as a science teacher at both the middle and high school levels in South Bend and Goshen, IN, until May 2020. In June 2020, I transitioned into the role of Dean of Students at Avon High School, and in July 2022, I stepped into the position of Assistant Principal there.
Throughout my career, I've focused on creating environments where students feel supported, engaged, and empowered to thrive. I bring with me a strong commitment to fostering success for both staff and students by prioritizing academics, social-emotional learning, and cultivating a faculty dedicated to the holistic development of every student. My vision for the school centers on fostering a culture that emphasizes respect, inclusivity, equity, and academic achievement. I firmly believe that when teachers, parents, and the broader community work together, we can ensure that every student feels valued, challenged, and driven to succeed because "Together we're better!"
I am excited to work with our exceptional staff, dedicated parents, and motivated students to continue building on the strong foundation that already exists at Black Hawk Middle School. As we move forward together on this journey, I am committed to listening, learning, and leading with integrity, love, and selflessness. I am genuinely excited to be a part of the Black Hawk Middle School and Madison communities and look forward to meeting!
Please feel free to contact me by email at awwillis@madison.k12.wi.us or by calling our school office at 608-204-4360. I welcome any questions or ideas you would like to share.
Go Wolfpack,
Dr. Aaron Willis
Principal
